Dynamic Discs Dirty Dozen Tour

Seems like just a couple days ago since the last blog. Turns out it was a couple weeks ago! The winter was once the 'slow' time of the season and now it seems like there is no such things as slowing down.

The Dynamic Discs Winter Warm Up started the Dirty Dozen Tour off with a bang last weekend! This was our first attempt to implement an inventory and bar coding system for the tournament inventory. We learned a lot and are anxious to apply an improved system and changes this coming weekend in Cedar Hill and McKinney for two more events. The amateur payout system will be easier than ever before so expect to get your amateur payout faster than ever before.

The Limited Edition Discraft Z Zone arrived and were an instant hit! We don't have many left so if you want one, get one before the few that we have left are all gone. The new Innova Disc Golf Blizzard discs are arriving on Monday. Be sure to check out the Dynamic Discs online store to see all the new and featured products. MVP recently came out with the new Anode putter. Nikko Disc Golf stamped Gateway putters are going to be stamped this week and offered only at Dynamic Discs.

Today Dick Parker, Adam Searle, and myself battled the cold weather to finalize the Glass Blown Open disc golf layout at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course. Eric "EMAC" McCabe spent a lot of time with the initial design process and with a few tweaks we feel like we have a top notch course that players are going to enjoy for this years GBO! The map and layouts of all courses used for the GBO will be posted as soon as final adjustments are made and approved.

Discraft Midnight Buzzz GBO Fundraiser

Another exciting week here at the DD shop. Registrations for the Glass Blown Open are already over 100 with registration only being open for a little over a week. The first Dirty Dozen Tour event of the year is less than two weeks away now with a steady flow of registrations coming in. The Dynamic Discs Winter Warm Up has filled up every year and we expect nothing different on this one. We are limiting the field to a strict 180 player limit so don’t be late to sign up.

The Glass Blown Open is shaping up to be the premier event in the region for 2012. Plans for the player party are finally coming together and it is going to be something special. The promo video for the event is being finished up right now by CoolDaddySlickBreeze and will be released as soon as the final touches are put on the editing.

Last week we received some more unique plastic that won’t be around for long! Be sure to check out the great selection of dyed discs in the Z Buzzz, CryZtal Sparkle Buzzz, CryZtal FLX Challenger and CryZtal FLX Drone. The red, white, and blue American Flag theme dye is a personal favorite. The GBO Midnight Buzzz also arrived as a fundraiser disc for the Glass Blown Open! This disc features a glossy black flight plate with GBO logo bottom stamp. With a projected 500 players at this years event, we don’t expect these to last past April 15th.

2012 Glass Blown Open Registration

Dynamic Discs is excited to announce that the 2012 Glass Blown Open schedule has been set and registration is now open!

Building on last year's record of 354 competitors, the tenth edition is going to be the most prestigious GBO to date! Players and fans alike will be "Livin' the Dream" for three rounds on three different courses. In addition to the Emporia Country Club and the Jones Championship Gold Layout, the 2012 GBO will feature a round on the Emporia Municipal Golf Course. All courses will run on tee times this year allowing people to follow the leaders, participate in the Discraft "Just Focus" putting competion, drop bombs in the Skywalker Gymnastic Long Drive competition, check out Dynamic Discs Headquarters, or just kick back relax and save your energy for you personal pursuit of a championship.

Three rounds of golf may not be enough for some die hard golfers. To help satisfy the need for more golf, two separate C-Tier 'One Round Challenges' will be available at Peter Pan Park both Friday and Saturday. Each event is separate and features a flex start so that you can play either before or after your GBO round. Rounds usually take 1.5 hours to play in a smaller tournament setting.

Our motto once again is "Livin' the Dream". And we want to make sure you're living it from the moment that you start your travels until the time you get back home. We understand that making the GBO a three day event will take a tremendous commitment from you. Your commitment and support the last 9 years have helped the GBO grow into a great event, and we expect nothing less this April! 2012 Dirty Dozen Tour Schedule & New Arrivals

Another busy week around the Dynamic Discs shop this last week. Our tournament schedule is finally set and looks great for this year! Be sure to check out the full schedule at http://dynamicdiscs.com/Disc-Golf-Tournaments/ and get signed up for the upcoming events soon before they fill up.

We had to take a few events off the schedule this year to allow for a couple new ones that we are really excited for! Some new ones to the tour include the Carolina Clash, Charlotte Amateur Championships, Dynamic Discs Amateur Championships, and Discraft Great Lakes Open! Plans for the Glass Blown Open are finally wrapped up! We will be making the announcements and opening up registration for this event during this week.

The Limited Edition Discraft CryZtal Sparkle Nuke OS & SS arrived on Friday! Only 1000 of each were produced and we don't expect them to last long. We also received a re-stock of MVP plastic which included the new Eclipse Vector and Axis mid-range golf discs.

The recent release of Innova Metal Flake and Blizzard discs are expected this week. There seem to be a lot of interest in these so we look forward to getting them in. Look for these to be available at our online disc golf store towards the end of the week.

Dynamic Discs New Year 2012

It is hard to believe that 2011 is behind us and 2012 is full speed ahead! What an exciting year we had with a lot of growth and a whole lot to look forward to in 2012!

Some of the highlights of the year included our vending trips to The Memorial, the Bowling Green Amateur Championships, the Kansas City Wide Open, and the Discraft Great Lakes Open (DGLO). In April we hosted The Glass Blown Open which was the largest DD event to date with over 350 players. May had us busy with the move to the new shop and busy tournament schedule. June and July allowed us to get more organized in the shop and host more events on the road. August featured live scoring of the World Championships through Dynamic Discs as well as Paige Pierce winning the PDGA World Championships. September and October proved challenging to keep up with what all was going on and helped us make the decision to bring in more staff. November and December were hectic with the holiday rush and conclusion of the year. We hosted over 24 PDGA sanctioned events with over 3000 players and are looking forward to more events and more players in the new season.

In 2012 DD will do our best to grow and promote disc golf around the world. We will continue to attempt to bring you the best disc golf gear in disc golf, we will strive to make our customer service the best you can find, we will continue to run the most organized and best events in the most possible locations that we can.

Thank you so much for your support in 2011. You guys are the people that allow us to pursue our dreams.

Discraft Midnight Buzzz & CryZtal Sparkle Buzzz

No surprise that things have been more than busy around the DD shop these last couple weeks. Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales were expected to keep us busy and really tested us to make sure that we could keep up with the rush. We jump started the Black Friday sales week by receiving our Discraft shipment of Special Edition Midnight Z Drones on that Tuesday. The Mystery Box sale was also a huge hit that got a lot of product out of our shop and made for a lot of really happy customers. There were a couple problems that came up but we took care of them right away and made sure that our supporters were 100% satisfied.

The Bob Robertson Memorial PDGA B-Tier tournament was held on December 3rd in Crowley, TX. It was the fourth year for this event and is always one that we really enjoy. The event Is all about having a good time and coming to the after party at the Robertson’s house. The format was changed this year to promote a more relaxed atmosphere. For the most part, I think that the players enjoyed the one round of 30 holes. We started later and finished sooner with no lunch break. Miles Seaborn won the open division and Tony Shirley the masters division. A huge thanks to all the players who made this one and to Robin Robertson and her entire family for being such great hosts the entire weekend.

A trip to Detroit and the Discraft factory were in store for this last weekend. Eric McCabe and myself made the trip to mix business with pleasure. Plans and sponsorship were firmed up for the Glass Blown Open and Discraft Great Lakes Open A-Tier events. Both of these events are top events in the country and one that every tournament disc golfer should attend. The Dynamic Discs exclusive CryZtal Sparkle Buzzz and Midnight Buzzz were also being molded and expected to arrive at the DD shop early next week! Both discs are sure to be top sellers with the Midnight Buzzz being a Glass Blown Open fundraiser.

Happy Thanksgiving from Dynamic Discs

Another couple busy weeks around the shop. It always amazes me how fast paced things are in this industry even during the 'slowest' time of the year. This 'down time' allows us to get things geared up for the holiday rush and make preparations for the upcoming 2012 disc golf season.

Last week Tyler Searle spent the week around the shop to observe and get up to speed with what all happens at DD HQ. Tyler is Adam Searle's brother and has started working as our national sales director. Ty will be handling the wholesale accounts and increase our reach in this sector of the business. He will also be contacting local clubs and tournament directors to see how we can help work with as many tournaments and clubs as possible. I am very excited to have Ty on board and know that great things are to come with what he has to bring to the DD operation.

Tuesday was a big day for everyone at the shop. We featured the new release of the Discraft Special Edition Midnight Z Drone. Only 250 of these were produced and are an exclusive Dynamic Discs item. We also received blue, yellow, and pink. On top of the new product, we offered a mystery box special and blowout T-shirt grab bag special. Both of these specials were well received and kept us busy.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are coming up! We have several more great deals in the works that I know the disc golf community is going to be excited about. Our newsletter will be released sometime today with the specials starting shortly after.

Steady Progress @ Dynamic Discs - New Arrrivals

Dynamic Discs hosted the Wichita Round Up PDGA B-Tier last Saturday with 84 players showing up to the one day event. Chris "Smitty' Smith and Ron Convers Jr. battled it out with Smitty winning the open division by one on the last hole. The Kansas Disc Golf Association banquet followed the tournament where many players gathered to socialize and eat BBQ.

We have a lot going on at the shop as always this week. Adam and Clay are working hard to sync all of our products with eBay which is more than 90% complete. The next step is to implement a UPC bar code system for our entire inventory. This is going to take a lot of time to implement but going to prove beneficial in the long run as we continue to grow.

Wiggins is settling in to his new role at the shop and doing a great job with the custom DyeMax process. Becky is doing a nice job keeping up with the phone calls and shipping. Money Mike is on top of the custom dye process and Fritz is keeping everything in line that we need him to do. We are keeping Shannon busy with the graphic design sector and Turk is implementing the web development updates. There are a lot of us working long hours to get things geared up for the holiday rush and 2012 season.

The Return of the WIG!

Tuesday marked the start of our newest addition to the team here at the shop. Chris Wiggins just moved back from Colorado and is excited to be helping out again at Dynamic Discs. Wiggins was the first person to handle the custom dye operation at DD and did for several years. If you are throwing an old custom dye, chances are that you are throwing something that he put in the dye.

The office manager position didn't work out after a better job opportunity to work from home came up. That role will be put on hold for a while. In the mean time Wiggins will be handling many of those tasks which include handling the DyeMax process, filling wholesale orders, listing unique collector discs on eBay, and other various tasks around the shop. I couldn't be more excited to have Wiggins back and know that we can get much more accomplished each day by having him handle some of the work load.

On another note, The Dynamic Discs Wichita Round Up PDGA B-Tier is being held this Saturday! Fritz started to get some of the product lined up for this event today and should finish tomorrow.

Steady Progress - Office Manager Hired

Winter is closely approaching and the days to play disc golf in good weather are about to come to an end for many. The is a great time for us to make some big progress around the shop. This last week we did some organization and arrangement to make the work space more efficient in the back office area. More shelves were put up and our wholesale inventory is now in an organized manner that will help streamline that process.

Our office manager position was filled today and begins at the start of November! We are very excited to have someone new come in who can help us in so many different ways. Our expectations are high and I know that this will help us continue to grow at the rate that we currently are.

The Player's Cup was hosted in Texas over the weekend and the Dynamic Discs Team had a great showing! There were a dozen team members at the event with Paul McBeth and Nikko Locastro making it to the final four. Nikko ended up battling Nate Doss in the championship match but couldn't pull out the win. Congrats to all Dynamic Discs members who competed at the Player's Cup!

Innova Disc Golf Pumpkin Discs & ESP Nebula Arrive

The Dirty Dozen Tour Finale was held at The Lodge in Pawhuska Oklahoma this last weekend. There were 98 players who played and enjoyed the weekend. The weather couldn't have been any better and the Taylor's hospitality was amazing as always. After the two rounds on Saturday the collector discs auction went over great. Many disc golfers went home with crazy good deals on old school and out of production discs including Innova Champion Edition CE gems. The poker tournament was a great time as well with 36 players!

A huge thanks to all of those who made the trip to The Lodge! We had hoped for more players at the Finale but think that we learned a lot from this experience and will make adjustments to fill the tournament in 2012.

Things were back to normal at DD headquarters today. Lots to catch up from the weekend as always. Our Innova Champion Discs Limited Edition Pumpkin discs arrived which included the Star Archon, Star Aviar, DX Roc, and DX Aviar. We also had another shipment of the ESP Nebula from Discraft. This disc has been very popular and exclusively available through Dynamic Discs at this time.

Dirty Dozen Tour Finale Approaching

This Saturday and Sunday I had the opportunity to experience "THE FRIZ"! This was my first time at this tournament. When I pulled up to tournament central, I was surprised to see so many tents and campers. The tournament is truly a celebration of the sport and made me realize that sometimes there is more to disc golf than what we offer at a PDGA sanctioned event.

The Dirty Dozen Tour Finale @ The Lodge is closely approaching! We will be doing our final preparations tomorrow which will take up the better part of the day. This is the first year for the tournament and we are super excited. This event is one that every tournament player should attend! We have over $2500 added cash and prizes, lunch and dinner provided on Saturday, collector plastic auction, distance competition, and poker tournament so there is plenty for everyone.

As always, the shop is busy. We have a lot of great things in the works. Nikko Disc Golf was launched for the custom DyeMax process and www.GlassBlownOpen.com has been updated to the Dynamic Discs website.

Web Development Started --- Graphic Designer Hired

Today we had our second interview with a graphic designer. The position has been filled and starts tomorrow! We are very excited to have a graphics person in house!

Turk also stated his first day as the web developer. The main focus today was to get him familiar with how we work at the office, sign some necessary papers, and get started on improving the Dynamic Discs website. Everything that was done today was 'back-end' work that will not be noticed by anyone. This work is very important though and something that needs to be done. Adam worked with Turk and had nothing but good things to say about how the day went!

Our second interview with a potential office manager is on the agenda for tomorrow. We have a lot of exciting things happening here and know that great things are to come. With all the growth that we are experiencing right now it is so important to have the right people on board. I think that we are getting there and expect a lot of great things to happen!

Another Busy Day at Dyanmic Discs!

Another super busy day here at Dynamic Discs. Jeremy Kindy and 'Sweet' Phil Jackson showed up today to get a few things done and talk shop. We also had a couple interviews and are pleased to announce the hiring of a web developer! The new position is starting tomorrow and we expect to be able to keep up with our website needs on a more consistent basis. Adam also had his first interview with a potential office manager that we are looking to hire. All things sounded good on that front with another interview later in the week.

Money Mike was busy handling a couple custom DyeMax orders for Millennium Disc Golf today! The discs are looking super sharp! We really need to get more information out about this process so that more people can take advantage of what we have to offer!

It is almost midnight and Adam, Clay, and myself are still working at the shop! A couple new computers are getting set up by Adam so that the web developer position and graphic design position can have a dedicated computer to work at while at the shop! We are making some progress around here and pushing forward like we never have before. This 'off season' is going to give us a great opportunity to review the business and make changes where needed. Having a few new team members on staff will surely help us accomplish even more in our daily work schedule.

Opportunity in the Disc Golf World!

It's hard to believe that a week has passed since my last blog! Things are happening at such a fast pace around here. There are never enough hours in the day to accomplish even a small portion of what we want to do! I'm not even sure what happened last week but I'm sure it was busy as always since I never got the opportunity to share what we were up to.

We had the weekend off which was a nice change of pace! On Friday, we enjoyed the "free" weekend and had dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant! Saturday night, Clay, Adam, and myself worked until 3:45 in the morning! Sunday wasn't much different with us leaving just before 2am! We got a lot accomplished and I feel great about the direction that we are heading. The main focus of each night was listing the Gateway, Discmania, and other various disc golf products on our online disc golf store! Of course, new ideas and dreams of where the company, and the sport are headed, were of great discussion.

Monday was an exciting day for us! Well, it still is Monday but that doesn't matter. Adam handled two interviews today that were both very positive! The first was a graphic designer and the second was a web developer. Additional interviews are to follow and we hope to bring in some new team members to the staff who can help Dynamic Discs grow to a new level. The current positions that we are seeking include a graphic designer, web developer, and office manager. The office manager interview is tomorrow and we hope to have the same positive response.

Kansas City Ace Race & Latitude 64 Shipment

The Kansas City Ace Race was held at Swope Park on Saturday and featured 140 players! Dynamic Discs hosted the online registration for the event and took the RV to sell merchandise. We also supplied the event with the additional player packs that were needed to host the extra players. It was a fun day of disc golf and nice to get out and play a round with the new prototype Discraft Ace Race disc. A huge thanks to Adam and Clay who made the trip to KC, Andy Lewis who made the event happen, and the rest of the KC crew who welcomed us to the city!

Last night, Wendy had the great idea of cleaning my office and painting! The color was a unique teal blue that wasn't the best of colors. We stayed there until almost 1am to finish everything up but it looks really good.

This morning I headed to Olpe, which is just 15 miles to the south of Emporia, to finalize the design of a new nine hole disc golf course. The baskets are in and the course should be installed at the end of this week. We plan to have the grand opening of the course soon and will take the RV full of Emporia disc golfers to show Olpe that we are very supportive of their decision to install a new course in the area!

As soon as I got back to the office our shipment of Latitude 64 plastic arrived! Look for a complete re-stock of Latitude 64 tonight or early tomorrow as Adam and Clay are working late to make sure and get these listed. Our Gateway putters should be listed on Tuesday or Wednesday and we plan to list as many products as we can throughout the week.

Dynamic Discs Online Disc Golf Store Update

The transfer finally happened today! Adam and Clay have been working hard to solve our online inventory problems. Our new online disc golf store has been launched! We still have a lot of products to transfer over but that will happen quickly. Most of the Innova discs were inventoried tonight and listed on the site. Discraft should be handled tomorrow and then special products and the other smaller manufacturers like Latitude 64, Gateway, MVP, and Legacy will happen shortly after.

I am very excited about the switch and know that this will solve the inventory issues that we have been experiencing the last couple months. To those loyal customers who received a phone call from us because of an order issue, I apologize, but the problems are being fixed. Our service has been less than exceptional this summer due to our growing pains but should be right back on track and represent our A+ standards with the new updates. It has just been a challenge to keep up with everything since the move in May.

Another big day planned tomorrow. Time to get out of the office, get some sleep, and make some more progress tomorrow. Thanks for tuning in!

Lewisville Open Review, Innova & Discraft Shipment

So much to write about. Things changed so quickly last week. I dropped Adam off at the airport Wednesday morning so that he could enjoy a little time off visiting family in Houston. Clay and Cole had to make the trip down to Texas by themselves as I was not able to attend due to a death in the family. As of Wednesday night there was still a lot to finish up for tournament prep. Clay and Cole dropped everything on Thursday to put all efforts towards making it to Texas. For some reason, this weekend didn't seem to work out for any of our usual tournament staff to attend. Up until a hour or so before departure time it was just going to be Clay making the trip to Texas. Cole stepped up and got his doctors appointment rescheduled to make the trip south for Texas with Clay.

The Dynamic Discs Lewisville Open PDGA B-Tier filled up at the start of the week! We ended up having 201 players for the weekend and hosted our first ever Friday C-Tier that was a flex start one round event. There were 66 players that played in this! A huge thanks to the entire DD crew who made the weekend tournament happen. Ron Silliman and Donald Ellsworth showed up at the park first thing Friday morning to help get tournament headquarters set up. Brian Lamoreaux helped out all weekend along with Dixon Jowers, Miles Seaborn, and Tony Shirley. If I missed anyone, I apologize, but I haven't had a good opportunity to get a full rundown of the weekend yet. Oh, and Adam Searle, who showed up Sunday afternoon to help with the conclusion of the event and drive home. I must say that I am very blessed and thankful to have such an amazing team of guys who can handle a tournament whether I am there or not!

The RV pulled back in to the Dynamic Discs shop at 3am! Clay, Cole, and Adam were all exhausted from the tournament weekend and long drive home. We had more than 2000 disc golf discs show up today. A large order from Innova and Discraft to restock our online inventory. A couple new items from Innova Champion Discs included the Champion Dart, Teedevil, flat top Firebird, and Echo Star Archon. We also received another shipment from MVP Disc Sports that included the new Axis Midrange Driver. The Latitude 64 order should be shipping this week so hopefully we can restock that next week.

We are preparing for a very successful week at the shop. The new online store and updated inventory should be set up sometime during the week, more website updates, listing of new product, as well as getting the Dirty Dozen Tour Finale registration online.

Lots of website updates happening again today. Adam and Clay are still pushing hard to make some necessary changes that should help us gain more online visibility and get the website up to where they want to see it. They stayed up working until 1am and will probably be doing the same again tonight! These two are amazing at what they do!

The newsletter got sent out yesterday which generated a good amount of online orders. The Innova TeeDevil and XG Champion Roc + are proving to be a disc golf favorite. Becky was busy all afternoon getting all the orders out and seemed to get most everything taken care of.

We still have a lot to get ready for the Lewisville Open but will have everything ready to go Thursday afternoon. Clay and I will be leaving tomorrow evening and are excited to get back to Texas! Both of us will be playing the One Round Challenge C-Tier on Friday and hope to shoot some 1000 rated golf:)
